In this week’s episode of the Podiatry Legends podcast, I had the pleasure of chatting with Matt Hayter, a respected figure in the podiatry community. Matt’s journey is a testament to resilience and adaptability in both his professional and personal life. After 20 years of running Dynamic Podiatry, he has transitioned into semi-retirement, pursuing new passions and sharing valuable insights with podiatrists through his YouTube channel, Get Patients Online.
Early Days in Podiatry
Matt’s entry into the podiatry world was anything but conventional. Starting his career at 30, Matt brought with him years of experience from his first business—recycling toner cartridges. The decision to study podiatry came after realising his true passion lay in science and working in a clinical setting. Despite starting late, he quickly found his place in the profession and has never looked back.
The Launch of Dynamic Podiatry
After graduating in 2003, Matt launched Dynamic Podiatry in Ferny Hills with his wife. With her expertise in accounting and his clinical knowledge, the practice grew steadily. Over the years, Matt gained a reputation for exceptional patient care, which was supported by a dedicated team and a focus on long-term relationships with clients.
Health Challenges and Transition to Semi-Retirement
As with many in life, unexpected health challenges arose. Matt developed a chronic lung condition that required him to reduce his clinical hours. The ongoing treatment, combined with the physical demands of practice, led Matt to make the difficult decision to sell his beloved practice.
The Rise of Quantum Orthotic Lab and Digital Presence
Though Matt stepped back from day-to-day practice, his passion for podiatry and business didn’t fade. He continues to be involved in Quantum Orthotic Lab, a lab he co-founded, and has since become an advocate for online marketing in podiatry. His YouTube channel, Get Patients Online, is dedicated to helping podiatrists build stronger digital presences, focusing on SEO and practical advice for driving traffic to websites.
Embracing New Opportunities
Now, based on the Sunshine Coast, Matt is enjoying life by the beach while continuing to share his knowledge through his online platforms. He remains deeply connected to podiatry, always eager to help others in the field grow their businesses and navigate their own challenges.
