Don’t forget to look at my UPCOMING EVENTS
In today’s episode, I’ll share 30 tips to improve your podiatry career, drawn from my experience as a podiatrist, author, and business coach.
If you heard this talk at the Foot and Ankle Show in Liverpool in February 2025, you will find some familiar points here, but I’ve also added updated insights and reflections, which is why this podcast goes for 18 minutes longer than my 30-minute presentation.
1. Never leave early – Stay until the end of conferences for valuable networking.
2. Accept AI – Integrate artificial intelligence into your clinic and life.
3. Don’t be the smartest person in the room – Learn from others who are smarter than you.
4. Read every day – Consistent reading brings inspiration and fresh ideas.
5. Stop hiding what you do on social media – Be proud of your podiatry practice and promote it.
6. Inversion thinking – Find solutions by considering how not to solve the problem.
7. Find your difference – Embrace what makes you unique and leverage it.
8. Be a podcast guest – Build your credibility by sharing your story on podcasts.
9. Walk and record your thoughts – Let your mind flow when you’re on the move.
10. Become your biggest fan – Back yourself and your business.
11. Help patients avoid decision fatigue – Simplify choices for better decision-making.
12. Be aware of self-fulfilling prophecies – Break out of any negative patterns.
13. Your number one asset is you – Take time off to recharge and look after yourself.
14. Use your team more – Delegate tasks and help your team grow.
15. Find their superpower – Tap into the strengths of your team members.
16. Novelty attracts attention – Make your clinic stand out with fun and unique elements.
17. Put your favourite services centre stage – Highlight what you want to do more of.
18. Understand your real competitors – It’s not other podiatrists but external financial pressures.
19. If you’re not happy, make changes – Don’t hesitate to remove negative influences from your business.
20. Live life with intent – Approach each day and task with purpose.
21. Learn a new skill every quarter – Focus on continuous improvement.
22. Two is one, and one is none – Always have a backup plan for key elements of your clinic.
23. Is one pair enough? – Always ask if your patients need more than one set of orthotics.
24. Same effort, therefore go big – Don’t shy away from offering the best treatment option.
25. Create a Facebook group – Build an engaged community around your services.
26. C players don’t like KPIs – Use KPIs for motivation, not punishment.
27. Work on your mindset every day – Cultivate a positive and growth-oriented mindset.
28. Simplify everything – Complexity leads to failure; simplicity scales.
29. Increase your fees – Charge what you’re worth without fear of losing business.
30. Flip it – Focus on the immense value you bring to your patients.
BONUS – 31. Always give more than expected – Surprise and delight your patients to build loyalty.
My final tip is to choose your top three or four tips, focus on them initially, and begin implementing them to see improvements in your podiatry career. When you’ve completed them, come back and continue with the list.

FREE Business Guidance:
Do you have a business question? A podiatrist I spoke with in early 2024 made an extra $40,000 by following my advice from a 30-minute FREE Zoom call. They were so happy they bought me a $400 bottle of bourbon. You don’t have to do that, but if you do, I will never say no!!!
Think about it – you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Please follow the link below to my calendar and schedule a free 30-minute Zoom call. I guarantee that after we talk, you will have far more clarity on what is best for you, your business and your career.
